Keep the URL short and stable. Every extra character makes the pattern denser and harder to scan at small sizes, and long tracking parameters are the usual reason a code that worked on screen fails on a business card.

A static QR code cannot be changed after creation. You would need to generate a new QR code with the new URL. For editable destinations, try our dynamic QR codes.
Is there a limit on URL length?
QR codes can encode up to around 2,000 characters. Most URLs will fit comfortably. Very long URLs with many parameters may produce a denser QR code.
How long can the URL in a QR code be?
Technically around 2,000 characters, but stay well under that. As the address gets longer the pattern gets denser and the code needs to be printed larger to scan reliably — anything past roughly 150 characters starts to constrain your print size.
Should I use a URL shortener for my QR code?
Only one you control. Third-party shorteners are free until they are not: if the service closes or starts charging, every printed code pointing through it stops working.
