QR Code Troubleshooting

If your QR code is not scanning, do not worry. Most issues have simple fixes. Here are the most common problems and how to solve them.

Code Not Scanning at All

  • Check size: The code may be too small. Increase the size or reduce the encoded content.
  • Check contrast: Ensure the code is dark and the background is light.
  • Check quiet zone: There must be white space around the code.
  • Check for damage: Smudges, creases or fading can break the code.

Scans but Opens Wrong Page

  • Double-check the URL or content you entered.
  • If using a dynamic QR code, verify the destination is set correctly in your dashboard.
  • Regenerate the QR code with the correct content.

Works on One Phone but Not Another

  • Older phones may have less capable cameras. Increase QR code size.
  • Some Android phones need a QR scanning app. Most modern phones scan natively through the camera app.
  • Ensure the phone's camera lens is clean.

WiFi QR Code Does Not Connect

  • Check the SSID is exactly correct (case-sensitive).
  • Check the password is correct.
  • Ensure the security type matches your router (WPA/WPA2 is most common).
  • Some older routers may not support WiFi QR codes.

Still Having Trouble?

Try generating a fresh QR code with a simple test URL (like https://generateqrcode.co.uk). If that works, the issue is likely with your content or destination.
